How I Started My Bug Bounty Journey…!!!

Whenever you hear about fields like Cybersecurity or Ethical Hacking, you probably feel like you should get into it — and it’s not just you; almost everyone feels the same. I was once one of them. But what do most people assume hacking is? For many, hacking means breaking into Instagram or Facebook accounts. I once saw a meme that said, “Never ask a hacker to hack Instagram,” and it’s actually true. Hacking isn’t just about that. Besides, hacking Instagram or Facebook accounts is nearly impossible nowadays.

So, let’s start with my journey. I didn’t have a laptop until 9th grade. My grandfather bought me one in 9th grade, and that’s when I began exploring. But I wasn’t sure *how* to start. I was just watching videos on YouTube without really doing anything. One day, my friend Kundan came over to my house and asked, “Do you use Telegram?” I said no, and he looked at me as if I’d committed a crime. He told me, “You can get all kinds of movies, books, and other paid stuff for free on Telegram.” I was amazed and thought, “Really? Are you kidding me?” So, to check it out, I installed Telegram, and I really did find paid things available for free there. (Though it’s wrong to talk about Telegram this way, it’s true.) I even found some ethical hacking courses there.

But then, someone added me to a chatting group with a lot of girls, and I got lost in it… chatting all day, every day. I ended up wasting a whole year. People kept adding me to random groups, and I just kept wasting my time and energy.

One day, I randomly joined a group (I can’t reveal the name) filled with extraordinary cybersecurity experts. I tried talking to them, but no one replied. Still, I kept trying. Eventually, I connected with two people — Arpita and a guy named Thor. They became my friends and explained how they found bugs on various websites. To confirm the bug, they would sometimes even order products from the site just as proof before reporting it. I was like, “Is this really possible?” Eager to learn, I started bug hunting, and they shared a course with me. Since then, I’ve hunted bugs on over 20 websites! I’ll cover each of these bugs and the methods I used, which I hope will be helpful for anyone on a similar journey.

Actually, before bug hunting, I was a biggest pirate of Physics Wallah lectures on Telegram. While that was wrong, it’s a fascinating story, and I’ll share it with you all too!
